Randy is originally from Colorado and began his playing career at the age of twelve. After a move to Rochester, NY, Randy began his high school career at Penfield High School where he was 3Xs 1st team All-County, 2X All-State. Randy was a member of the 1990 State Champion team following a State Runner-Up campaign in 1989. Penfield won Sectional Titles in 1989 and 1990.  Randy was MVP of the Penfield Team in 1991. During this time, Randy also began to play club volleyball for Rochester Pace Bootlegger. During his time with Rochester, Randy’s teams had considerable success earning a fifth-place finish at the AAU Championships in 1988, a 2nd place finish at AAUs in 1989 and a 5th at USAV Nationals, a National Championship at AAUs in 1990, and an 8th place finish at USAV Nationals in 1991. Randy also received All-American honors in 1989.  

Randy attended The State University of New York- Buffalo where he studied Mathematics and played for the school team where they were constantly tested with west coast trips and contests with the powerhouse Canadian Universities.

After school and wanting to give back, Randy began his coaching career by coaching with Rochester. Eventually Randy returned to Colorado and continued to play volleyball with different national leagues and USAV. Randy also began a career as a geriatric and infection control nurse.  

Randy is a member of a volleyball family where his brother and youngest sister played Division 1, as well as his sister-in-law and her 3 sisters. His nephew was an AAU All-American in 2019, and his niece, Ireland McNees is currently playing for Oklahoma University in the SEC. This next generation of volleyball players prompted Randy to return to coaching and joined Club V in Salt Lake City, UT in 2019. In 2020, Randy became the Club V Boys’ Director. During his time as a coach/Director, Randy led teams to great success. A 3rd place finish for the 18Us at AAU Open Championships in 2020, a 5th place in 14U Open at the 2021 AAU Championships, National Runner-Up at 13U USAV Championships 2022, 14U National Champion 2023 USAV Open Championships, 3rd at 13U USAV 2023 Championships, a 3rd in 2023 16U USAV National Championships, a 5th in 18U 2023 USAV National Championships, and 2024 saw the 14U finish 5th in the Open AAU Championships, the 15Us won the Premier Championship, and the 16Us and 18Us finished in the Gold Division.

Randy loves dogs and enjoys reading and taking cruises. He has a passion for keeping volleyball accessible to everyone and hopes to battle youth anxiety and depression with bumps and spikes! We are excited to have Randy with us as he looks to guide and develop Indiana youth into the best versions of themselves that they can be.
