We are so excited to have Kyla Thomas back at The Academy! Kyla has over 15 years coaching experience at all levels.  Her collegiate coaching experience includes Assistant Coach at Marian University and at Lakeland Community College.  Starting in 2013, Kyla served 4 years as Varsity Head Coach at Lawrence Central High School where she led them to their best record in over 12 years.  While there, she also started Rising Stars feeder club for youth ages 8 to 14.  Prior to that, Kyla was the Varsity Head Coach at Broad Ripple High School (volleyball and softball) for 5 years.  She has coached multiple teams at The Academy Volleyball Club since 2014.

Kyla played volleyball and softball at Kentucky Wesleyan College, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.  She later earned a Master’s Degree in Secondary/ Urban Education from IUPUI.   Kyla is a graduate of Neoga HS (Illinois), where she broke volleyball school records for match and season assists, as well as serving percentage. 

Kyla is currently in her 8th year as a professor of Health and Physical Education at Marian University in Indianapolis.
