Anitra Helton is back for another season with The Academy and her 20th total season of club. She previously coached for seven years at Team Indiana before joining The Academy in 2017.
Anitra’s volleyball coaching career began at St. Thomas Aquinas, where she assisted the CYO Cadet A team for two years. In 2006, she became the volleyball coordinator for St. Thomas and has been head coaching their grade school teams ever since. She is the 2018 Monsignor Busald Award winner for STA, an honor given for her dedication to the parish.
Anitra was also previously a Freshman coach at Bishop Chatard (Indianapolis) High School (2009-11).
Anitra attended Muncie (Ind.) Burris High School, where she was the starting setter on the JV team before playing opposite and winning State on the 1993 Varsity team coached by Steve Shondell.
Anitra graduated from Ball State in 1998 with a degree in graphic design. She is now the Senior Graphic Designer at The Boatman Group. Anitra is married to her high school sweetheart, Mark, has two children, Sofia and Elias, and two dogs, Gus and Lincoln.
